KRG responds to Iranian accusations

SAT, 6 JAN 2018 22:30 | KRG Cabinet

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government Spokesperson, Safeen Dizayee, on accusations by the Iranian Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, alleging the Kurdistan Region being involved in the recent demonstrations in Iran:

In a statement, published by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, the Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mohsen Rezaee, made baseless accusations against the Kurdistan Region, claiming the recent demonstrations in Iran are being managed from Erbil.

We categorically deny such baseless and fabricated accusations. The Kurdistan Region has shown in practice that it has always been, and remains, a factor for peace and stability. The Kurdistan Region has never been, nor will it try to be, the cause of disturbance and unrest in its neighboring countries.

The Kurdistan Region always works to build and improve friendly relations with its neighbors, and regional as well as other international countries based on mutual respect and bilateral interests. Such statements do not serve neighborly relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
